Seeking Magic, often simply called Seeking, is the Talent of discovering information and locating people and objects. Someone skilled in Seeking Magic is known as a Seeker.
The aura color typically associated with Seeking is light green.
Mana reading is the ability to see and analyze the magical energy of a spell or enchanted object. Aura reading allows one to analyze the aura of a person. They are not really separate abilities, and doing one generally means the mage is capable of doing the other as well. Patterns in a spell or enchantment determine the type of magic, while color indicates who cast it.
Historically, auras were considered to be associated with particular Talents, so that people seen to have an aura of a specific color were trained in the type of magic associated with it. This led to a long-standing misconception that the color of a spell or enchantment was what indicated its type and effects.
Scrying is the ability to see things at a distance. A skilled Seeker can locate objects and people, view a distant location, detect intrusion into an area, and other similar variations.
The distance at which magical detection can operate varies greatly with the power of the mage and their skill at Seeking. A mage with no inborn ability nor inclination to learn more may learn the basics of Seeking in order to locate lost objects within a single room, such as misplaced pants. At the top end, a powerful inborn Seeker such as Keolah can scan and do an analysis of locations from across the entire multiverse.
